According to guidelines issued jointly by the FDA and EPA in 2014, these specific demographic groups are advised to incorporate a greater variety of fish into their diets, focusing on those with lower mercury content. Through SeafoodCheck, users can conveniently search for the mercury levels and dietary recommendations associated with each type of fish or seafood that they plan to purchase or consume. The app sources its mercury concentration data from the FDA's publication 'Mercury Levels in Commercial Fish and Shellfish (1990-2010)', while the classification levels and dietary guidance provided are based on the NRDC's 'Consumer Guide to Mercury in Fish'.
